Hannanprint Prepress File Specifications

Files can be submitted to HP via:

Ask your Account Manager about the most suitable method for you.

All files, including those supplied by a third party, must comply to the following specifications. Every page must be a separate file, even if it is a version change, and individually named.

Add an R (for revision) to the name of any replacement or correction pages. Subsequent replacement pages are numbered R1, R2 etc.

 

The standard file naming convention is:
Title Issue / Date Year File / Page No. Revision (if applicable) Extension
mag 07 04 p01 R1 .pdf

 

Additional identifying characters may be used before the extension, up to a maximum of 31 characters including the extension.

The following characters cannot be used in a file name:
– ? “ / \ < > * | : + + [ ] . , ; ^ % ® © ° •

Do not end a file name with a space or a dot.

PDF files – Created using Prinergy Pages Job Options, supplied in ZIP or BIN format.

All four colour work must be process CMYK in all applications.

All four colour files must be supplied CMYK.

All files must be TIFF or EPS not DCS, JPEG, BMP, GIF, Pict etc.

Document Setup: Set to same size as final trim
Bleed: 5mm
Resolution for scans: 300ppi
Resolution for lineart scans: 1200ppi

Truetype fonts must not be used.

When saving files in Photoshop EPS format, don’t include halftone screen or transfer function.
